Bad eye/evil eye.

My mom doesn’t allow me to tell any good about my daughter to the visitors. The following are things I am not allowed to say..
  1. She has put on little weight. She has grown fast.
  2. She smiles at me.
  3. She sleeps in the night.( when I use huggies instead of cloth diaper)
  4. she is not fussy about her feeds.
  5. She is trying roll. She turns to her one side completely. ( it seems babies don’t roll till their third month).
  6. She opened her eyes immediately after she was born.
  7. She put her finger in the mouth on day one itself.
In fact I need to put the kajal on her forehead and cheeks every day. I need to make it as big as possible, so that my daughter looks ugly in front of others. Immediately after a visitor leaves my house, my mom comes with salt in her hand to remove all evil eyes of visitors. J.

Amma is a big word…

My baby called me out as Amma.. it feels so great. there is bonding coming up with the word. I know it’s by fluke, as my baby is only 2 months old. i don't think she can even recoginise me by face. But, it really makes me so proud. For a second, I can’t believe that i am a mother. I am still finding it difficult to accept that I am married and I have a baby.
Note: Appa is really jealous on this.. :P.

Bad momma..

Can you believe a 2 month old can scold? Yes, my baby scolds me in her own language... she uses the same tone and sounds when I neglect her or delay in feeding her. It sounds so cute. The evil side of me reacts. I make her scold me, by delaying in feeding her.

Now she has become smart. She doesn’t let me play with her. Instead she holds me tight and pulls me towards her. She pinches me, till she succeeds in getting her feed.

Deodorant became mouth freshener.

I know the tittle of the post is little confusing.so is the advertisement.

A lady enters the bus. She lifts her hand to hold the grab bar on the top. At the same instant, a man sitting in the bus, closed his mouth. His neighbor closed his nose. The sequence looks as though the men are reacting to the bad smell from the lady. But its an toothpaste advt.
Here is the link. Please view the advt. and post your comments

Vaccination

Any vaccination or injection hurts. Bunty got her second vaccination. I didn’t go with her to the injection room for her first vaccination. This time I couldn’t escape. It’s not that I am scared for injections. It’s just that, I can’t see someone poke my little girl. I know it’s for her good. But the sight really hurts. Poor thing didn’t cry for two days, but started it today. Fever and drops for tiny doll is hell.
Sorry baby, I am not able to help you. There are few more to go.
Note: actually I was really scared of injections. But during my pregnancy I gave so many blood test, and had TT injections etc, I became bold now.

Ashreya became Advika…

It’s really difficult, when you have to name your baby. Too many people and too many options. Its difficult to satisfy all. There is star, numerology, religion, region linked to it.

Here is the stand of each person in the family, while I named my daughter.

Me: her name has to start with “A”, as my name starts with A.

A’sD: people should not tease her because of the name. I am not bothered about anything else.

MIL: which ever name the priest says.

FIL: we shall name her as per birth star.

MOM: I will go with your MIL.

DAD: naming of the baby has to be baby’s parent’s wish. I don’t have any say on it.let her nick name be Bunty ( I love you dad)

SIS: I want the baby to be named Amrutha.( she was quite adamant on this)

Finally we named her as per my wish. Her name is Advika.

I liked the name because…

a) It starts with “A”.

b) Its not so common name, though there is already a blog in this name.

c) My name and baby’s name, both have 6 letters.

d) It’s a Sanskrit name.

e) Its meaning is also good. It means ” unique girl”. Someone who thinks and works differently.

f) My husband liked the name( surprisingly)

g) And finally, I didn’t keep the name according to my MOM or MIL or FIL’s wish.

Note: according to birth star, we need to name her with starting letter “ CHO”. And the priest suggested “Cholika”. It is supposed to be Goddess name. I know, everybody thinks of the song “ choli ke peche” after listening to the name. so, it was easy for me reject MIL and FIL’s selection. And convincing MOM and SIS was little difficult.

Suspense ends…

I delivered a girl baby on 29th of may 2011, at 6.49pm. I just can’t express how happy I am. I wanted a girl baby, and finally it is.. J. It was a suspense till the end for everyone. But, I kind of got an hint a month ago when I went for a scan. The doctor was showing each part of the baby and explaining. She said, this her brain, lungs, stomach, liver, kidney etc etc. but at point, she drew two ovals and nodded to her junior. I knew she was showing ovaries. She thought that, I wouldn’t notice or understand that. I confirmed that it was a girl baby.
