bunty is on her tummy..

I am sure its a surprise for a lot as it is for me.. my baby seems to be in a hurry. she has managed to turn and sleep on her stomach in 2 and half months.. It seems generally kids do this only when they are 4 to 5 months old..
i think following might be the reasons:

  • she is thin and tall. yes she was 50cms when she was born. almost one third of my height.

  • she doesn't like wet surface. as we use cloth diapers for her, she tries to move away when she wets it.

  • in sleep she tries to turn to her side for milk when she is hungry

  • so, if i am little away from her side, she tries to put her fingers in mouth, and she uses both her hands . she loses balance and she falls.

  • she cryies when she turns as her hand gets struck in between, she cant move it by herself..

what ever i say, my mom wont listen. she is happy telling everyone about her grand-daughter's earlierness. and she keep telling people that bunty is smart and intelligetnt as though she has tested her IQ.

Bad eye/evil eye.

My mom doesn’t allow me to tell any good about my daughter to the visitors. The following are things I am not allowed to say..
  1. She has put on little weight. She has grown fast.
  2. She smiles at me.
  3. She sleeps in the night.( when I use huggies instead of cloth diaper)
  4. she is not fussy about her feeds.
  5. She is trying roll. She turns to her one side completely. ( it seems babies don’t roll till their third month).
  6. She opened her eyes immediately after she was born.
  7. She put her finger in the mouth on day one itself.
In fact I need to put the kajal on her forehead and cheeks every day. I need to make it as big as possible, so that my daughter looks ugly in front of others. Immediately after a visitor leaves my house, my mom comes with salt in her hand to remove all evil eyes of visitors. J.

Ashreya became Advika…

It’s really difficult, when you have to name your baby. Too many people and too many options. Its difficult to satisfy all. There is star, numerology, religion, region linked to it.

Here is the stand of each person in the family, while I named my daughter.

Me: her name has to start with “A”, as my name starts with A.

A’sD: people should not tease her because of the name. I am not bothered about anything else.

MIL: which ever name the priest says.

FIL: we shall name her as per birth star.

MOM: I will go with your MIL.

DAD: naming of the baby has to be baby’s parent’s wish. I don’t have any say on it.let her nick name be Bunty ( I love you dad)

SIS: I want the baby to be named Amrutha.( she was quite adamant on this)

Finally we named her as per my wish. Her name is Advika.

I liked the name because…

a) It starts with “A”.

b) Its not so common name, though there is already a blog in this name.

c) My name and baby’s name, both have 6 letters.

d) It’s a Sanskrit name.

e) Its meaning is also good. It means ” unique girl”. Someone who thinks and works differently.

f) My husband liked the name( surprisingly)

g) And finally, I didn’t keep the name according to my MOM or MIL or FIL’s wish.

Note: according to birth star, we need to name her with starting letter “ CHO”. And the priest suggested “Cholika”. It is supposed to be Goddess name. I know, everybody thinks of the song “ choli ke peche” after listening to the name. so, it was easy for me reject MIL and FIL’s selection. And convincing MOM and SIS was little difficult.

False labour

It was Saturday morning. I had severe back ache. I was not sure what was happening. I told my husband about back ache, hoping that he would massage. But he went and told my mom. Mom is always mom. She called my friend, asked him to bring his car. I was taken to the nearby hospital. As it was a Saturday only duty doctor was available. He checked me. He called the gynecologist. But the gyn said, she can’t come to see me. Hence I was taken to another hospital, which was 20 km away from my house.

We reached the hospital. Doctor came to examine me. Oh ya, it was internal examination. I can’t say how much I hate it. As she was examining, I started bleeding. Doctor told me that I might be in labour any moment. I was asked to remove all my jewels and I was sent to labour room.

To my surprise and doctor’s surprise, I was the only patient for the day. The previous night they had some 22 cases including labor, DMC, uterus removal. I was asked to sleep on a bed. I didn’t get sleep. I was all excited knowing that I was in labour and going to have a baby soon. Lady in my next bed had a c-section done and got wheezing. I was holding her baby. The feel of holding a baby is great. Then the baby and the lady were shifted to ICU.

It became evening. Still there were no signs of pain. I asked the doctor in charge and went out the labour room to meet my mom and husband. They were all the more restless. I thought it was going nowhere. I asked the doctor in charge to send me back to my room for the night. They agreed to send me back.

I waited all night hoping to get pains. Doctor, who came to examine me, taught me few exercises. I did them every 40 minutes and walked for 20minutes each hour till noon. I was bleeding again. I was sent for scan. The scan reports said, I would be in labor any moment. But, there was no sign of pain. Suddenly fetal heartbeat was dropping down. So the doctor decided to induce me the next day for pains or else to do a c-section.

Monday morning, the senior doctor visited me. She said baby is in position. But it’s lazy to come out. So, I was asked to go home.

Note: as the hospital was multispecialty hospital, had to pay a huge amount for nothing.. as in false pains.
